Lil' Pardners Rodeo (Cancelled for 2021)
We are very excited about the program and we're sure you will be too! You and your special child will be guests of the Rodeo Foundation and the Livermore Stockman’s Rodeo Association to be "cowboys and cowgirls for a day." This event will be limited to 40 mentally or physically challenged children who are between the ages of 5 and 15 years old (as of June 2022). Attending family members are limited to 6, including the participant. The participants will be guests of the Rodeo Foundation and the Livermore Stockmen's Rodeo Association.
The basic format of the Lil' Pardners Rodeo starts off with check-in, where your child will receive a T-shirt, a cowboy hat and other gifts donated by local businesses and individuals. After a brief introduction and the selection of the Lil’ Pardners Rodeo Princess we will make our way down to the arena and we will pair them up with real cowboys and cowgirls and engage in simulated rodeo activities. Families are more than welcome to tag along and watch and take pictures.
The events include steer roping using pretend steers, eight-second rides on a hand-rocked bull and bareback horse, barrel racing using stick horses, and a ride on the back of a real horse! All events are designed to be appropriate for this group of special children.
The entire hour-long performance is announced by the official rodeo announcer for the Livermore Rodeo. Following completion of the events, each child is recognized with his/her cowboy "pardner," and is awarded a trophy. There will be time to take pictures of your cowboy/cowgirl with their award before we send them back to the chuckwagon tent for a complimentary hot dog lunch. Once everyone is refreshed, the Lil' Pardners Rodeo participants and their families are then treated as our guests to the Livermore Rodeo, so they can see their cowboy "pardners" in action.
The Lil' Pardners Rodeo involves special-needs children, demonstrating a broad range of handicapped or mental conditions. Children from the Tri-Valley community serve as the program's participants. Safety considerations are foremost at all times.
Registration is currently on hold.
The Lil Pardners Rodeo is scheduled to precede the Livermore Rodeo performance, with the general public in attendance invited to see this heartwarming event. The Lil' Pardners Rodeo participants and their families are then treated as our guests to the Livermore Rodeo, so they can see their cowboy "pardners" in action.
