It is with sadness that we report the cancellation of the 2020 Livermore Rodeo. The decision to cancel this year’s
event was thoroughly discussed and voted on by our elected Board of Directors. This decision was based on
the COVID-19 pandemic currently impacting the world.
Every news channel, internet article, and media print has completely informed all of us regarding the dangers
of this pandemic. Social distancing, isolation, hand washing, and preventing large gatherings have been the
most advised preventative method available to overcome this virus. The decision to cancel this year’s event to
ensure the safety and success of our beloved rodeo and the patrons, guests and volunteers that attend was
easy. Saying, “We aren’t doing it in 2020”, was terribly hard as we internally struggled to find a way to keep
the tradition alive in 2020.
I am sure this is disappointing news to you, as it is disappointing for me to share. If you have any questions
regarding this decision, please contact any active Director. I am also available for questions.
Please pass the word and educate those in the community on the purpose for this year’s cancellation. Internally, the Rodeo will begin preparation for our 2021 performance with the intent and motivation to make things bigger and better.
Please stay safe during this unsettling time.
Sincerely,
Colby Staysa
Past President & Member of the Board of Directors
Livermore Stockmen's Rodeo Association
